A shopping mall in China has posted warning signs on restroom partition doors targeting smokers saying, "If you don't want to be famous on the internet, please endure it." According to Hong Kong's South China Morning Post (SCMP), the Shubei International Center and Shubei Jinshuo Building in Guangdong Province installed special glass on restroom doors that become transparent when smoke is detected, after struggling with 'indoor smoking' inside the restrooms. Additionally, a notice stating, 'Smoking makes the glass transparent,' was also put up along with the notice. Shopping mall users were pleased with the installation of this special glass. Previously, the mall imposed fines and other sanctions on indoor smokers, but these had little effect,,, so they installed special glass that becomes transparent within seconds after detecting smoke. One user said, "Finally, there is an effective way to solve the indoor smoker problem," and netizens who heard the news expressed hope that the system should be applied nationwide. A non-smoker said, "This technology is urgently needed across China," and lamented, "Every time I go to a public restroom, I feel like I'm suffocating from the smoke." However, some have raised concerns about privacy violations, stating, "If users' rights are infringed, legal liability will be imposed," but the ,,, shopping mall responded to these concerns, saying, "We plan to install a reset button in case the sensor accidentally activates," and added, "We will make sure it works only through smoke."
