According to the Sungkyunkwan University Survey Research Center (SRC) on the 23rd, in a survey about this year's Chuseok plans, 43% said they only planned family gatherings without ancestral rites or grave visits, 43% said they had prepared for both ancestral rites, grave visits, and family gatherings, and 11% said they had no plans for either the rites or graves. Regarding the survey results, SRC noted that while the focus of the holiday has clearly shifted from traditional rituals to family gatherings, Changes in traditional rituals did not mean the overall disappearance of Confucian values,,,, 93% agreed with the question "I always keep promises," and 91% responded that "I try to observe etiquette appropriate to the situation." 77% agreed that "I want to help people in difficult situations," and 69% also agreed that Confucian values have a positive impact on modern society. However, awareness of the negative aspects of Confucian values was also significant: 57% said it strengthened hierarchy, 52% said it strengthened nepotism, and 50% agreed with strengthening male-centered patriarchal order. Nevertheless, attitudes valuing age order were relatively weak, with only 30% agreeing that "the opinions of older people should be respected more than those of younger ones." SRC stated, "Confucian Values are selectively accepted based on what kind of value they are, rather than simply maintaining or weakening them," and explained, "Rather than simply accepting or pushing away all traditional values, people place meaning on relationships and communities, keeping their distance from hierarchy and privilege."
