President Lee Jae-myung, who is on a state visit to Mexico, met with local Koreans on the 24th and said, "So that you do not have to worry about Korea, at least during my term, Korea will take good care of you," and added, "There will never be any time beyond June 2, 2030." After making these remarks at a dinner meeting for Koreans held in Mexico City that day, President Lee said, "Those who worry about such things should not worry ," which caused laughter to break out in the audience. The June 2030 that President Lee mentioned is the period when his term ends, and it is interpreted as a reaffirmation of his intention not to serve another term. Previously, at a press conference held at the Blue House on the 18th, President Lee said, "My re-election through constitutional amendment is constitutionally impossible," and added, "I make it clear once again. I have absolutely no intention of serving another term." The opposition strongly raised suspicions of constitutional amendment for President Lee's re-election, and when controversy arose, President Lee personally stepped in to put an end to the controversy. At the time, President Lee said, "The demand to promise not to serve another term is like a political offensive aimed at creating a frame where I am planning to re-elect but then giving up," and added, "Nevertheless, I take this opportunity to make it firm once again." But when they go out of their way to meet overseas Koreans and say it all over again, it seems like the opposition's framing is way too exaggerated,,,!! Maybe they'll be there in the next presidential election!!!!!!!
